Amy Smart was an American model as well as actress. Her birthplace and childhood was in California, USA, she first began modeling in Italy. The first time she acted was 1996 when she starred in "Her Costly Affair," which was a TV film. Her struggle was to find the role of a main character in Starship Troopers, despite having played in several films. It was difficult for her to transition between modeling and acting since models aren't considered to be competent actors and typically given small and insignificant part. Amy was determined to keep going, and she eventually landed larger parts, starting by appearing in the TV show "The 70's" as well as the film "Varsity Blues".
